Growing up on a Taiwanese rice farm, Jean Menges suffered from debilitating allergies - until she saw a village doctor who used a combination of eastern and western therapies to heal her. “Sometimes he’d use modern medicine, sometimes Chinese herbs,” Jean recalls. “But he was always kind and attentive. He made a huge impact on me.” So much so that after moving to the United States at the age of ten, Jean pursued a similar path, attaining her biology and medical technology degrees at Case Western Reserve University. Upon graduation, she performed molecular genetics research at University Hospital of Cleveland before realizing her true calling was more hands-on approach to healing. She enrolled in the school of acupuncture at South Baylo University, where received her master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She also studied the meridian system, a traditional Chinese medicine belief about which the life energy known as ‘Qi’ flows. “That fascinated me,” Jean explains. “Because it answers the ‘why’ about underlying causes and explains the relationship our bodies have to environmental changes and lifestyles habits.” She then moved to New York City, where she went into private practice and has been helping treat not only the symptoms, but also the root cause of her patients’ health issues ever since. I utilize all the many modalities of chinese medicine to provide my patients with balance and alleviate their symptoms. Each patient receives personalized care tailored to their specific symptoms and needs. rnAs the 2007 chief fellow in integrated medicine at St. Vincent's hospital I developed advanced skills in treating complicated patients both pre and post-surgery. I have a specialization in rehabilitation acupuncture for pain management. At Longmont hospital in 2000 I received specialization in working with oncology patients under going chemotherapy and radiation treatment. rnI also have 17 years experience working with patients undergoing treatment for infertility and have a 95% success rate for patients grtting pregnant. I have a unique and specialized approach to tresting pregnant patients in all stages of pregnancy including labor. The Elemental pregnancy methid provides for optimal heslth for bith mother and chuld through each month of pregnancy. I have assisted at many births easing the pain and discomfort of labor.
